Adding audio and video files is one of the great features of the fixed layout EPUB standard and can really enhance the reading experience.

InDesign added audio and video is supported but there are some benefits to using CircularFLO tools too.

The Audio & Video Tools panel (CircularFLO Window menu > Audio & Video Tools) can also be used to help prepare your documents.

Make FLO AUDIO layer

Adds an InDesign layer named
FLO_AUDIO to add audio to the page manually. Drag audio onto the InDesign page where they are required. Their position and size is picked up from InDesign and the tappable media is placed in this position in the EPUB.

To place audio on the page and see a play bar with standard audio controls, add audio to FLO_AUDIO layer.

Add Tap Audio to selection 

Attach audio to a selected InDesign object and so creating a tappable audio button in InDesign. 

Use pixel images such as PNG or JPEG for tap audio buttons which are not be cropped from a larger image. MP3 is recommended for audio files, make sure your audio links are present in InDesign when running CircularFLO.

Audio buttons can be animated, which is a nice way for the reader to realise the object is actually a button to interact with.

Preview audio on selection 

Without leaving InDesign, hear the audio track attached to the InDesign object using the Add Tap Audio to selection button.

This button is on the Audio & Video Tools panel (CircularFLO Window menu > Audio & Video Tools). Click to adds an InDesign layer named FLO_VIDEO to add video to the page manually.

Drag or place video files onto the InDesign page where they are required. Their position and size is picked up from InDesign and the tappable media is placed in this position in the EPUB.

In the converted EPUB, video can be run in position or the reader can zoom to full screen, returning to the page when complete.
